Privacy Policy
Copywise is designed to keep clipboard history under your control. This policy describes how the current macOS, iOS, and iPadOS applications handle information.
Last updated August 11, 2026Information stored on your device
Copywise stores clipboard history, preferences, managed previews, and related metadata locally on your device. Clipboard content can include text, links, images, files, and folders that you choose to copy or save.
Using clipboard history and installing free extensions do not require a Copywise account. Clipboard content is not used for advertising or profiling.
Analytics, diagnostics, and support
Copywise contains no behavior analytics or remotely transmitted telemetry. Apple MetricKit crash and performance reports may remain on your device for up to 30 days and leave the device only when you explicitly export diagnostics.
Diagnostics are designed to omit clipboard content, URLs, titles, filenames, paths, complete CloudKit record names, and iCloud identifiers. If you choose to send a diagnostic archive or other information to support, it is used only to respond to and resolve your request and is retained only as long as reasonably needed for that purpose.
Optional iCloud synchronization
iCloud synchronization is off by default. If you enable it, supported clipboard content synchronizes through your private CloudKit database.
Text, links, images, and bounded encrypted list previews can synchronize. Original files and folders do not upload. An encrypted visual file preview can synchronize only after explicit consent and can be disabled separately.
Links and website previews
Opening a saved link connects your device to that website. On macOS, Copywise asks before it downloads link-preview titles or images; no preview request is made until you allow it, and you can turn the feature off or clear its cache in Settings.
A destination website receives normal network information such as your IP address and request headers. Copywise blocks preview requests to local, private, link-local, and other non-public network addresses.
Copywise Keyboard
The optional iOS keyboard reads Copywise history from the local shared App Group only after Full Access is enabled. It does not record what you type and does not make network requests.
You can remove the keyboard or disable Full Access at any time in iOS Settings.
Direct extensions and the developer platform
The Mac website edition supports user-initiated extensions. After you approve their permissions, selected content may be sent directly to the configured third-party service. API keys remain in the device Keychain, and the marketplace does not receive clipboard or model-request content. Catalog and revocation checks connect to the distribution service using ordinary network requests.
Developers and reviewers sign in with GitHub. The platform stores their GitHub identity, publisher profile, submissions, review decisions and security audit records, and uses essential session cookies. Source submissions are private to their owner and authorized reviewers; approved runtime packages and listing materials are public. Installed JavaScript can be inspected by users.
Your controls
You can pause recording, exclude applications, clear local history, remove cached resources, disable synchronization, and request deletion of Copywise data stored in your private iCloud database from the app.
Secure, concealed, and transient pasteboard content is skipped when the source application marks it accordingly.
Contact and changes
The support page lists the production email address for privacy and product questions.
This policy may be updated when Copywise behavior changes. Material updates will include a new effective date.
